Since the unnamed child is finished with her cheer season, I gave her the option of going out for track (which she quickly declined) or going to the gym with me everyday after school. I thought it would be a good way to motivate me and to force me to make time during the day for some exercise.
Here is how today went:
Me: Ready to go to the gym?
The kid: I’m not going.
Me: You have to go
The kid: I just straightened my hair today, and if I sweat I will have to redo it … and I hate working out.
Me: So do I, but if we don’t go we’re going to get fat, have a heart attack, and die. Or even worse … get cellulite
The kid: Fine I’ll go but you cant force me to sweat.
So apparently this was not going to be a stellar workout day if she wasn’t allowed to get hot.
While there, the child walks up to me and says “That guy over there is checking you out”.
I said no, he’s not. Maybe he just thinks he knows me.
She said “No That’s not the kind of look he’s giving you, and he needs to stop. It’s creeping me out”.
I said “Why is that creeping you out?” She said “Because you’re a mom, that’s just disgusting.”
I said “Why would he be checking me out? I have on sweats, no makeup and my hair in a bun.”
She said “I know … he must be soooo lonely”.
Nothing like spending time with your teenage daughter to boost your self esteem.
Tomorrow, good hair day or not, we are going to sweat.
Speaking of getting hot, I used a red hot color on this next project.
This was the dresser that you amazing people voted on the color, and you selected a shade I’ve never used before.
So without further ado, let me unveil your selection in this red vintage dresser redoux. I think it came out great! How fun is this??
