I noticed the other day that I shared one of my furniture pieces as a contributor at another site in October, but because of the craziness in my life, I never shared it with my readers. You see, Fall is a bit of a whirlwind around here as I start decorating for Halloween, flow into Thanksgiving, and settle into Christmas (with get-togethers, parties, and functions peppered all throughout).
Toward the end of the summer, I came across a giant beast of a brown dresser at a yard sale for next to nothing.
I’m pretty sure it was so cheap because the owners just wanted this albatross out of their home. It was super nasty when we bought it, but I saw some great potential there.
Topher did not. He thought it was heinous and could not be saved.
He of little faith.
I’m not going to lie, the cleaning process took some time. I had to hire the unnamed child to help with this one. It took about a million wet q-tips and paper towels to get all of the years of filth off this bad boy.
Once it was clean, I used two coats of Plaster Paint’s Seaside on the bottom, and two coats of Plaster Paint’s Espresso on the top.
I coated the whole piece in Plaster Paint’s clear wax and buffed it off.
I also spray painted the old hardware an antique gold.
(Please pardon the Halloween decorations…)
The day I was loading this up in the truck to take down to my booth, I changed my mind. I knew I wanted a new TV console for my basement and realized this would be perfect! It even match the rug I had down there!
I am currently building a gallery wall around my TV, so stay tuned for more on that.
Also this week, I will be showing you how I made over our old tv console.
Now I have a favor to ask my lovely readers. My silver IKEA Rast Hack that I showed you last week is in a contest over at Hickory Hardware.
The top three with the most votes get a hardware makeover for any room in their home.
I would really appreciate any votes! Just click here to vote!
