You all know that I’m thrifty when it comes to decorating my home. Well … I’m actually thrifty when it comes to almost everything, but that’s beside the point. So this time of year is my favorite because it’s yard sale season.
Almost all of my decor comes from thrift stores, yard sales and estate sales. When you can score a dresser for $20, a lamp for $5 and a basket for a dollar, who wouldn’t be excited?
Do some of these finds take a few minutes of elbow grease to spiff them up? Sure, but it’s worth the savings, and the fact that I can makeover the item however I want it.
For example I found this basket for $1 last week at a sale.
It’s not super exciting as is, but I knew with a quick coat of Plaster Paint it would be good as new, and a heck of a lot cheaper than buying it in a store.
It literally took me less than 5 minutes to slap some paint on this guy.
I also found these faux succulents in the Dollar Spot at Target … because Target is fabulous.
I took Plaster Paint in Jewel and painted the base of the succulents for a little pop of color.
I knew that this basket and the succulents would be the perfect pairing down the center of my dining table.
