Welcome to the All Things Home Elements of Summer Tour!
All week, 35 bloggers will be bringing their best summer themed projects. I have a linky party down below showcasing their amazing projects!
To me, summer screams bright, fun colors.
Since I painted my front door a pretty jade green this year, I also have to have something that coordinates with that. So I decided to make a burlap wreath with a bright pink pop of color!
You might find this hard to believe, but this is my first burlap wreath … gasp!
I know! I am apparently the last person on the planet to do their own spin on one, so I decided to take the plunge.
The last wreath that I had made was my 3-Tiered Flower Wreath …
… which I loved, but it was time to retire it (A.K.A. have my mom come steal it — which works for both of us). First I went to Michael’s and get the supplies:
- A wire wreath form
- 3 rolls of burlap ribbon
- A small wooden letter
- A can of spray paint (I already had one but in case you don’t, you will need one)
- Some artificial flowers (I used one stem of hydrangea that was 40% off), and
- Two rolls of ribbon (unless you already have some, which I did)
You start out by weaving your ribbon in and out of your wreath form.
While you do this, I recommend laying your wreath on top of a large towel. The little fibers from the burlap can get really itchy — ask me how I know this.
There is really no wrong or right way to do this. You weave it up and over going one direction then pull the center of it loose, and then weave up and over going the other direction, pulling loose the sections that you want.
You keep doing this until the whole wreath form is covered. Make sure you get the center and outside edges covered. I then hot-glued my flowers on.
After that I spray painted my letter.
While that was waiting to dry, I made two bows the same size out of the two different types of ribbon.
I glued on the pink ribbon at the top of my wreath, and then I glued on the burlap ribbon directly on top of my pink one. I then adjusted the pink ribbon so that it peaked out behind the burlap one.
Once my wooden letter was dry, I hot glued it onto the side of the wreath.
Charlie, Gracie and LuLu had to say hi!
Make sure to check back everyday this week to see all of the other summer projects in the tour! Monday

Hi Shanna. You would never, ever know that this is the first burlap wreath that you’ve ever made. It looks amazing! I love the pops on pink on it and the pink polka dot planter at your porch. It’s very eye catching.
Love the wreath, it looks fabulous. Perfect addition to your porch and door.
Cute and easy…love it!!! 🙂
Your fun wreath is perfect for summer. Love the hot pink and burlap combination.
I love the color of your door – mine is very similar! I love bold color on a front door! Fun partying with you, Shanna!
Looks great, Shanna! I just love burlap and actually have a wreath I made on the front door. Sadly, I just took down the Easter part and it’s just plain! Add that to my to do list! Thanks for joining us on the tour!
Very pretty Shanna!! Love the colors too!
Nancy
I love your wreath Shanna and the beautiful door. Two of my favorite colors together, fuchsia and turquoise!
I love the look of the burlap wreaths. Truly can be perfect for any time of year.
You have a knack with wreaths. Love your three-tiered version, too.
Love it!! You did a fabulous job!! I love the monogram letter. I love it!!
P.S. Did you know that Rachel (who plays Zoey) is pregnant? I wonder if they will write it in or hide it like they did with Lemon. Can’t wait till the new season!!
Its lovely and the perfect summer accent. Hugs P.S. I hope you will share at my hop tomorrow.
Shanna, I love the happy color of your front door and how you make your monogram so bright too! What a warm summer welcome your wreath gives to all who happen by your front door! LOVE IT! PINNING!
Shanna, your beautiful burlap wreath looks so Summery on your pretty front door! Love the polka dot pot too!
What a pretty wreath-you did amazing for your first time, I’m pretty sure my first looks suitable for the trash can!
Loving that pop of pink against your super cool jade green door!
🙂 Linda
Your pups are so cute!! Love the pink accents on the wreath against your blue door and the pink pot with the polka dots caught my eye.
The pink in your wreath is the perfect complement to the jade color of your door. The whole thing really pops, especially with that cute polka-dot planter. But the best part, of course, is those two darlings peeking out the window! 🙂
What a beautiful wreath! So bright and cheery! 🙂
I love your summer wreath Shanna!! So, so pretty. 🙂 Thrilled to be part of this fun series with you this week!
Your wreath is simply divine! I love the pink…it stands out so beautifully against the burlap and screams HAPPY! (I also love all the little faces waiting by the door to greet visitors ~ so precious!). hugs, mary beth
