Happy Monday before Christmas everyone! Or as I like to call it: “I have nothing wrapped, my house is still a mess, and I still have to buy two more gifts day”.
Tomorrow will be my last post for the week my friends, and then I am taking a little time off to unwind and spend a little bit of time with the family.
Christmas movies are my absolute favorite thing, and so far I have only watched Miracle on 34th Street and 1/2 of White Christmas. I have some making up to do. Did you know that the unnamed child has never seen “It’s a Wonderful Life“? I just found that out the other day, and I am definitely going to have to remedy that situation. No child of mine will not know what it means when someone says “every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings”.
So before I check out for the week, I thought I would share with you the one area of the house that I haven’t shared with you this season: My tree.
I have told you before that putting up my tree is the highlight of my year. I love looking back and remembering where we were when we picked-up certain ornaments like this one we found while in St Martin.
My whole tree is aqua, white, silver and turquoise.
Except for this one little pink one up at the top.
One of my favorite memories is decorating a tree with my Grandma. She was a doll collector, and one year she came across a collection of Kiddles. They are tiny 2-inch dolls, and she probably had a hundred of them. So we put up the lights and tied on all one hundred little dolls all of the tree, which I thought was the coolest thing I had ever scene.
A few years back, I was at a store where they had this tiny pink doll ornament (which reminded me of that day with my grandma), and I knew I had to have it. Even though it doesn’t go with my Christmas decor, it has a place of honor right up top on the front of the tree. Every time I look at it I think of her, and it makes me happy.
I’m not a big fan of the sad grey winter days, but they aren’t so bad when I’m working at home and with the sparkling lights across from me.
I leave my tree up until the first weekend in January … or until Topher forces me to take it down because the neighbors are starting to talk.
And then I start counting the days until I can put it back up again.
