Pink Plaster Painted Vintage Chair

In the past, I would go to yard sales and see amazing upholstered vintage chairs, and I would pass them by. The fabric usually looked worn,  and I didn't want to dish out the money to have it reupholstered. Then a few months ago, I tried my hand at painting the actual fabric. It turned out great! So when my mom saw that a neighbor had left this outdated, peach number out on the curb, she scooped it up and brought it home for me to work a little magic on. … [Read more...]

Fabric Backed Console

I found this bookshelf/cabinet-ish piece at a yard sale for $10. It had a veneer top and cheap paneling on the back. I painted the entire piece with Plaster Paint in Sweet Cream and distressed it. I then removed the back piece of paneling, sprayed it with spray adhesive, and laid a piece of fabric over it. I then laid a heavy piece of wood on top to hold it in place until the adhesive, and then I cut off any extra fabric. I then nailed the panel back in place. … [Read more...]

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been a little MIA this week. I've been a little under the weather, so all projects had come to a halt. I'm starting to feel slightly human again, which means I will have a fun new project for you tomorrow ... and don't forget our Best Of DIY linky party tomorrow night at 8 pm Central! 27 amazing bloggers posting their best DIY projects is right up my alley! Hi guys! How was your weekend? Yesterday, as promised, I only worked for a few hours and then took the rest of the day off. We went and saw The Giver which was pretty good. There were a few things they didn't really explain at the end, but it was worth the price of admission. I even splurged and got popcorn. Topher thinks movie theater popcorn is the most disgusting stuff on the planet, and while I agree it is horrible for you, I think having it once a year won't kill you. I worked for … [Read more...]

Happy Labor Day everyone!! I know many of you will be out at the pool or enjoying your last trip to the lake. Today, I have vowed to only work a total of 2 hours! Gasp! I know! I worked Saturday and Sunday, so I decided today I'm going to enjoy at least half of the day. I think the kid talked us into going to see If I Stay. She didn't have to twist my arm too much -- Topher, on the other hand, is not sharing our enthusiasm. Saturday we grilled out for my dad's birthday party and … [Read more...]

Today is Thursday, and where I live that means today is garage sale day. Yes, garage sales are also on Friday and Saturday, but the majority of the sales start on Thursday. That means I wrote this post last night, and as you are reading this, I am probably out making the rounds -- knocking over old people trying to get all the good stuff. Just kidding, I only knock over the people my own age and younger. So as you are getting ready for your day, I am bargaining … [Read more...]

Happy Monday!!  I hope you had a great weekend! We had a fun BBQ over at a friend's house Friday night.  Saturday, we took the pups to get groomed, and then we had a wedding to attend that evening. Thank goodness it wasn't an outdoor wedding because it was in the triple digits here.  Sunday was full of cleaning and painting. I was feeling a little blue on Sunday as it was the one year anniversary of the wreck that lead to my aunt's death. There have been so many times over this last year … [Read more...]
