Vintage Cabinet turned Laundry Hamper

A few weeks, ago I showed you how my laundry room went from this to this I can't believe how much better the room feels now. The only thing it was lacking was a place to stash the dirty clothes. I didn't want to have big laundry baskets sitting on the floor, and I wasn't able to build shelves or mount a cabinet because if we ever needed to pull out the washer out, the space is too small to work around a large piece of furniture. My parents went to an estate sale the other day … [Read more...]

Plaster Painted Vintage Dresser Makeover

Retro Two Toned Dresser

I noticed the other day that I shared one of my furniture pieces as a contributor at another site in October, but because of the craziness in my life, I never shared it with my readers.  You see, Fall is a bit of a whirlwind around here as I start decorating for Halloween, flow into Thanksgiving, and settle into Christmas (with get-togethers, parties, and functions peppered all throughout). Toward the end of the summer, I came across a giant beast of a brown dresser at a yard sale for next to … [Read more...]

Laundry Room Makeover

PicMonkey Collage7

Do you have a room in your house that is a complete disaster? One where you make sure the door is closed anytime you have company so they aren't appalled by the way you live? Well, I actually have two of those rooms, but I decided to conquer my laundry room first. Let me prepare you my friends. We have lived in our home for 9 years, and we have not done one thing to this room in that time, except for add a bunch of hoard to it. I have no idea how things like dog clothes, purses, hair … [Read more...]

Throwback Thursday #4

Welcome to my new Throwback Thursday series, where we blast to the past and check out some of my favorite projects.  Since I have so many new readers, I know a lot of you haven't seen some of these pieces, so now we can all get caught up. It's also pretty interesting (and sometimes entertaining) to go back in time and see what me and my family had going on in our lives. When this dresser first was posted  it was two years ago, the unnamed child was 15, and at times we would butt heads. It … [Read more...]

Throwback Thursday Edition #2 (and the Green Chalkpainted Dresser)

Chalkpainted-Green-Antique- Dresser

Welcome to the second edition of Throwback Thursday! I am traveling back through time and featuring some of my favorite projects from the past. It is fun to see how my painting techniques have changed, how my photography has improved (thank goodness!), and what was happening in my family's lives at the time. If you read my earlier post about my first dog Gracie, you know that I am absolutely in love with my pup. She is such an amazing dog. The only problem we had was separation anxiety (on … [Read more...]

Throwback Thursday #1 (Retro Ivory Dresser)

I'm starting a little something new here on Thursdays. In this past year I have been very blessed with such a large number of new readers. Many of my beginning projects have never been seen by most of my new followers, and I thought it would be fun to go back and check some of them out. Now bare with me, my photography skills weren't up to par on some of these, but some of them are my favorite projects and it's kind of fun to see what was happening in my family's life at the time. I bought … [Read more...]

It's Themed Furniture Thursday!! I always look forward to our monthly furniture group tour. It keeps me on my toes and helps me to remember to step out of my box.  This month's theme is Letters or Numbers. Now I have done a lot of projects that have had letters on them like my  Two Toned Coffee Table, French Stenciled TV Console, and my Parisian Painted Side Table . One thing I have never done is a project with numbers. My mom found these cute little stacking tables at an estate sale … [Read more...]

Plaster Painted China Hutch

Don't you just love Fall? The cool crisp air, the way the leaves turn beautiful colors, and warm yummy drinks you can enjoy in front of a fire? The only problem here is that even though it's the middle of October, it is still almost 90 degrees! So here we are still wearing flip flops, although the pool is closed people are still laying out, and the poor kids playing football and in the band are about to keel over from heat exhaustion. Here in Kansas, we don't usually get much of a Fall. We … [Read more...]

Pink Plaster Painted Vintage Chair

In the past, I would go to yard sales and see amazing upholstered vintage chairs, and I would pass them by. The fabric usually looked worn,  and I didn't want to dish out the money to have it reupholstered. Then a few months ago, I tried my hand at painting the actual fabric. It turned out great! So when my mom saw that a neighbor had left this outdated, peach number out on the curb, she scooped it up and brought it home for me to work a little magic on. … [Read more...]
