Green Retro Bookshelf Makeover

You know that little something in you that sees a junky piece of furniture and it whispers to you "grab that, it looks rough now, but we could make it into something great"? Yeah well Topher doesn't have that. In fact, Topher has a little part of him that says "that is a piece of crap. Run far away from that and do not let your wife have that. It is crap and it will always be crap". That is why when Topher and I go on an ice cream run I sometimes forget to tell him when are running to … [Read more...]

How to Reupholster a Bench

This my friends is probably one of the easiest tutorials I have ever shown you. I know that a lot of people will bypass upholstered pieces of furniture at yard sales/thrift stores, etc. because they are intimidated by the whole recovering process. I too used to be one of those people. To this day are there pieces that I still bypass because they are way too much work?  Absolutely. Projects that only need the seat recovered are way easier than you might think though. … [Read more...]

Blue Milkpainted Antique Dresser

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend! Us ... not so much. Nothing bad happened, per se, but we just did a ton of work. We hauled tons of stuff to my new storage unit, cleaned all of the windows in the whole house, finished up reorganizing my studio, got everything pulled out of my office / craft room, got it cleaned up, finished some new bookshelves, and got everything put back and looking fancy. Somewhere in between all that, we went out to dinner for our anniversary. By the … [Read more...]

Red Milkpainted Antique Secretary (and a giveaway)

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great Mother's Day! Mine was the best one I've had in a long time. Topher and the unnamed child made a fancy brunch with Creme Brulee French Toast, Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes, and a Jalapeno Egg Casserole ... and mimosas. My parents, brother, sister-in-law, and my niece all came over. We had taken some photos of the granddaughters together and blew them up for my mom's gift, which she loved. I'm glad because trying to get photos last week when it rained … [Read more...]

Plaster Painted Ivory Server

Happy Hump Day everyone! I just want to thank you all for your sweet emails and comments on my health the last few weeks. To answer your questions ... things aren't back to normal yet. I'm still having kidney pain, running a fever, and having massive fatigue. I did get an appointment with a nephrologist, which is good, but not until next week. Next week may not seem like a long time, but when you are in constant pain (and have been for 4 weeks), a week seems like a really, … [Read more...]

Plaster Painted Yard Sale Clock Makeover

You see them at yard sales all of the time. Little decorative items that are still cute but outdated because of the colors used on them. There are certain colors that were used in certain time periods that totally give them away. In the 70's it was avocado, yellow, and oranges. In the eighties there was the whole country phase in country blue and mauve. Many of these decorative items you would pass right by at yard sales and thrift stores when all they really need is a little makeover. I … [Read more...]

Ivory and Blue Painted China Hutch

Guess what today is? It's Furniture Themed Thursday! This month's theme is Distressed, and all of my blogging buddies and I have some fun new projects to show you! My brother picked-up this old china hutch for me from a yard sale a while back, and it had been living in my basement for two years now (something my hubby never let me forget). When we installed our new carpet a few weeks ago, and my brother and hubby had to carry this mammoth beast back up the stairs, he said … [Read more...]

Fabric Backed Vintage Shelf

Fabric-Backed-Bookshelf (3)

Hello my friends!  I hope you all had a great weekend! It was absolutely beautiful here! Sunshine and temps in the 60's meant that I could finally drag out all of my pieces that have been waiting to be spray painted. Topher did some work on his car, and our over-the-range microwave died on Friday, so he had to pull the old one out (easier said than done) and install a new one. I finished the pieces down below, started a few new ones, and brought some new goodies down to my booth. The … [Read more...]

PicMonkey CollageSwapitLikeitshot

If you've been reading my last few posts, or following me on Facebook, or Instagram, you will know that I'm super excited to have been asked to participate in this Swap It Like It's Hot Tour. It's where 33 bloggers all partner up, and on a budget of no more than $10, send each other some thrift store goodies which we then makeover. In the past, I have loved reading all of the posts in the tour and seeing everyone's creativity, so I jumped at the chance when I was invited in! The person … [Read more...]

Vintage Cabinet turned Laundry Hamper

A few weeks, ago I showed you how my laundry room went from this to this I can't believe how much better the room feels now. The only thing it was lacking was a place to stash the dirty clothes. I didn't want to have big laundry baskets sitting on the floor, and I wasn't able to build shelves or mount a cabinet because if we ever needed to pull out the washer out, the space is too small to work around a large piece of furniture. My parents went to an estate sale the other day … [Read more...]
