Keeping Your Family Safe with GE Link Bulbs (and a giveaway)

Look at all of the new, techie products out there now that 20 years ago we wouldn't have dreamed of! A portable phone so small it can fit in your pocket? DVR's that can "guess" what shows you like? Cars that can sense a collision? And lights you can turn on and off from the Internet? Things sure have changed since I was a … [Read more...]

With a Heavy Heart…

Almost 21 years ago, I was at our local Humane Society -- which back then was a really run down, scary place. I was in the cat section, walking by the rows of cats when a tiny paw reached through the cage and touched my shoulder. I looked in and saw a tiny little ball of brown fluff, with the sweetest pleading eyes you have ever seen. I hadn't stopped by there to adopt a furbaby.  I was actually there with my boyfriend at the time, killing a few minutes before we went to a movie. Being … [Read more...]

Changing the Way We Snack With Skinnygirl Popcorn

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SkinnygirlSnacks #CollectiveBias We live in a small town. One thing about most small towns ... they are big on football, and our town is no exception. Every Friday night, everyone bundles up and heads to the stadium. After the game, the unnamed child usually has a group of kids over to our house to watch movies. Of course being teenagers, when they get here they are hungry. The girls … [Read more...]

Pop Sugar Must Have Box

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have Box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it. Am I the only one out there that loves getting mail? Usually my mailbox contains at least one magazine and some type of coupon from either Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works, or Bed, Bath, Beyond. Of course there are some days where all you get are bills ... but sometimes there can be goodies in the … [Read more...]

Giraffes, and Kangaroos, and Zebras … Oh My!

Photo Jul 20, 10 21 32 AM

My mom and the unnamed child have always had a very close relationship. Sleepovers at mimi's meant homemade cookies, putting on their swimsuits and getting in the jacuzzi tub while sipping cocktails (orange juice) in champagne glasses, and staying up late watching tv together. Even as a teenager, it hasn't been uncommon for her to go stay the night over at Mimi's. They even watch the same tv shows (Teen Wolf, Vampire Diaries, The Originals). I'm pretty sure my mom just watches them, so she … [Read more...]

The Most Important Piece In Any Room

PicMonkey Collage

For months now, my friend has been wanting me to help decorate her 5-year-old daughter's bedroom. I told her that we would have to start with the most important piece -- the piece that makes or breaks an entire room:  the rug. It can take a simple room from bland to BAM!! Check out the two rooms down below. Both of them are fantastically decorated rooms, but the rugs are the one item that take them over the top. So when she told me that she fell in love with this nuLoom Avignon … [Read more...]

Tour Through Blogland

Turquoise Painted Chandelier

A few weeks ago, my sweet friend Christy from Confessions of a Serial Do-It-Yourselfer invited me to participate in a Tour Through Blogland.  On this tour, each blogger is supposed to share a bit about ourselves, answer four questions, and introduce you to some other bloggers that I adore. Christy and I share a passion for all things turquoise, upcycling vintage furniture, and repurposing ordinary items. She is a fabulous decorator -- you have to see her amazing home! So much of the … [Read more...]

Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown

PicMonkey Collage

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Slimfast, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #14daystoslim  The first week of September, I will be turning 39. The number 39 itself I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is that it means I will be one year away from the big 4-0. What the heck? If I only live to 80, that means I will be at the halfway point. What the heck? How did I get so old? Mentally I don't … [Read more...]

What To Do When You’re Allergic To Your Furbaby

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of ZYRTEC®. My whole life I have had allergies. When I was in the third grade, I got the birthday present that I had been begging for ... a cat. A neighbor lady's cat had a litter of kittens born in a tree stump by her home. I picked out the runt of the litter and was so excited to bring her home. Unfortunately when the cat came home with me, my allergies got out of control. I got allergy testing and sure enough, cats and dogs were … [Read more...]
