Haven Recap 2015

Happy Monday everyone!!! I hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was not nearly as productive as I had hoped. As I mentioned last week, I am getting ready to re paint the entire upper level of my home. I have been living in the Land of Beige for the last 10 years, and I am so over it. I am now going with grey, but I had no idea what an ordeal it would be. I went all over last weekend, going from store to store, buying samples of grey paint. One was too blue, several too lilac, some too white, … [Read more...]

Hello my friends!  I'm back! If you've been following along, you know that I was in Atlanta for a few days for the Haven Bloggers Conference. This is my third year attending, and I look forward to it all year. Blogging is kind of a strange thing. Unless you are one, most people have no idea what they are. You have no idea how many times I have had this conversation: "What is it that you do?" "I'm a blogger." "What is that exactly?" "I run a DIY website." ".......So that's what … [Read more...]

Am I the only one that gets super excited when UPS or FedEx rings your doorbell letting you know that you have a package? I didn't think so. So imagine how excited I was when I opened up the door to find that I had multiple packages from Balsam Hill! For anyone that doesn't know Balsam Hill is a company that specializes in the most fabulous Christmas trees you ever saw. Most people think that is the only thing that they carry. They actually have some really beautiful home decor items … [Read more...]

Vintage Dog Collection

Vintage-Dog-Collection

Everyone collects something don't they? At least they do in my family. My mom collects vintage rhinestone jewelry, my grandmother collected antique dolls, and my aunt collected vintage Barbies. As a little girl I always went to yard sales with my grandma. While she was always on the lookout for old dolls, I was eyeing the fancy rhinestone jewelry (yes I was a sucker for some bling even back then). It was a fun challenge and gave me something to do while she was expanding her collection. As … [Read more...]

Thoughts of a Mother (and a Fence Post turned Wine Rack)

Rustic-WineBottle-Rack

When you're single or newly married, all of your thoughts are about you. How am I going to afford that new purse? What are we going to do this weekend? Why is my hubby in such a bad mood? When you become a mother, all of those thoughts are pushed to the side, and your thoughts are now focused on this brand new little life you are now in charge of. It then becomes, Is she eating enough? When will she ever sleep? Why is she still crying? Is projectile vomiting normal? And most important of, … [Read more...]

I've got big news!!! My other half is taking over the blog today! Well actually he will be taking it over several times a month! We are starting a new series called Tuesday's With Topher. I kind of have a rough idea of things I … [Read more...]

It feels like every time you turn on the television there is a new story about how there are toxins in our water, our food, cosmetics, etc. Every year there are also increases in diseases like autism, cancers, and autoimmune diseases. Happy Friday everyone!!  I hope you all had a good week! The unnamed child is super happy to have a three day weekend. She and I stayed up late watching movies, and she is dog sitting and hanging out with her girlfriend tonight, which means Topher and I will finish up binge watching White Collar. I'm still not feeling quite like myself, but am hoping I can get a little work done on some projects this weekend. My mom is hosting Easter on Sunday, so all we have to do is bring a casserole … [Read more...]
