Vintage Dog Collection

Everyone collects something don't they? At least they do in my family. My mom collects vintage rhinestone jewelry, my grandmother collected antique dolls, and my aunt collected vintage Barbies. As a little girl I always went to yard sales with my grandma. While she was always on the lookout for old dolls, I was eyeing the fancy rhinestone jewelry (yes I was a sucker for some bling even back then). It was a fun challenge and gave me something to do while she was expanding her collection. As … [Read more...]

Thoughts of a Mother (and a Fence Post turned Wine Rack)

When you're single or newly married, all of your thoughts are about you. How am I going to afford that new purse? What are we going to do this weekend? Why is my hubby in such a bad mood? When you become a mother, all of those thoughts are pushed to the side, and your thoughts are now focused on this brand new little life you are now in charge of. It then becomes, Is she eating enough? When will she ever sleep? Why is she still crying? Is projectile vomiting normal? And most important of, … [Read more...]

Tuesdays With Topher, Part 1: Our Story.

I've got big news!!! My other half is taking over the blog today! Well actually he will be taking it over several times a month! We are starting a new series called Tuesday's With Topher. Where I am the visual part of the blog, Topher helps me from time to time with the behind the scenes work. So we thought it might be fun if he gives some little lessons on how to get a blog up and running! Hey there! This is Topher (AKA Mr. Restoration Redoux). I kind of have a rough idea of things I … [Read more...]

Earth Day with Tom’s of Maine

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #NaturalGoodness #CollectiveBias How do you feel about exposing your family to chemicals? It feels like every time you turn on the television there is a new story about how there are toxins in our water, our food, cosmetics, etc. Every year there are also increases in diseases like autism, cancers, and autoimmune diseases. It makes you wonder if there is a connection?  I'm no expert … [Read more...]

Pinterest Party Friday #96

Happy Friday everyone!!  I hope you all had a good week! The unnamed child is super happy to have a three day weekend. She and I stayed up late watching movies, and she is dog sitting and hanging out with her girlfriend tonight, which means Topher and I will finish up binge watching White Collar. I'm still not feeling quite like myself, but am hoping I can get a little work done on some projects this weekend. My mom is hosting Easter on Sunday, so all we have to do is bring a casserole … [Read more...]

Swap It Like It’s Hot

Guess what? Today kicks off the Swap It Like It's Hot Tour!!!! If you haven't heard of this before, it's where 33 bloggers each choose someone out of a group and send them some junktastic thrift store goodies. Then we all have to take what we received and transform it! I've seen this tour before, and I thought they looked so fun and wished I could be part of it. Pinterest Party Friday #90

Happy Friday everyone!!! I just got back from an enrollment meeting for the unnamed child -- she's going to be a senior next year. Let's just say that there was a lot thrown at us about when to apply for financial aid, scholarships, dual credit courses, off campus classes, etc. To confuse things even more the unnamed child will be graduating a semester early, so all of our deadlines are different than everyone else's. Looks like I will be spending the weekend with my nose in … [Read more...]

5 Ways to Stop Shopping in the New Year

5-Ways-To-Stop-Spending -Money

I mentioned a few weeks ago how we were determined to get rid of our credit card debt ASAP, and I showed you How We Save $749 a Year By Cutting Out Cable and Still Get to Watch the Shows We Love. My next step was to figure out how to stop shopping. I am the one in our household that buys for myself, my hubby, the unnamed child, the pets, and our home. By cutting down these expenses, to only the necessities, I knew it would help get things back on track. 1. Stay Home. When I … [Read more...]

How We Save $749 a Year By Cutting Out Cable and Still Get to Watch the Shows We Love

Stepping out into the new year, Topher and I decided we needed to go on a diet -- a debt diet that is. Like so many other people, we finished up the year with some credit card debt. You know what I'm talking about -- that emergency card that you had to use when something big popped-up, like a large car repair or a pet surgery. Then you maybe added an emergency pair or shoes that you had to have to go with your dress for that certain party, and when you absolutely needed a weekend away to … [Read more...]

IKEA Rast Hack

Happy Friday everyone!!! Sorry I've been MIA this week, strep and this almost 40-year-old body were at war the entire time. I'm still not well, but I'm better than I was a week ago. I've got a fun makeover for you today! A while back I was contacted by Hickory Hardware and asked to take part in an IKEA Rast Challenge.  They would send me the IKEA dresser, and I would make it over. I thought it sounded fun so I told them to send it my way! Now I have never been to IKEA before (I know … [Read more...]
