It is still snowing here in Wichita. Shocking I know. Thankfully, in our area, it didn’t develop into the Blizzard of Oz they were predicting; however, I am desperately craving some sunshine.
Plus it takes paint a really looonng time to dry out in the garage when it is this cold.
On the upside, with all the school snow days, we’ve been able to catch-up on a few things. After finishing some work on a handful of projects, the unnamed child and I watched My Best Friend’s Wedding. We are now getting ready for the latest episodes of The Bachelor, but before that, I thought I would share a project I finished last weekend.
Now that the dining room is aqua, I am trying to tie that into my living room. I had an eggplant (K-State) purple and some jewel tones going on in there, but out with the old in with the new. The aqua dining room is to the left of the door which is to the left of this mirror. Are you with me so far?
I took the mirror down (I have another life planned for it in the living room) to make room for this. I purchased this off of Joss and Main awhile back, but I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with it. (I do that a lot actually).
As Nate Burkus says, if you buy things you truly love, you WILL find a place for them.
I unboxed it, hung it on the tan wall, and hated it because it was too boring.
So I painted it the same color as the dining room. Actually I painted and distressed it which took forever, and I sanded every ounce of skin off three of my fingers, then I glazed it.
I like it much better with some color.
One problem, though. Now that I have aqua on both sides of the door, the stark white door is really annoying me. You know what that means? I’m going to have to paint it — I just have to figure out what color.
I will show you pictures and get your advice on that later.
Now onto The Bachelor, who do you want him to choose?

I'm a wife,
a stay at home mom of 3 dogs, a cat and an ama- zing teenage daughter.

I love the reference to K-State purple! EMAW! While I will always love purple, the aqua is very pretty.
Thanks Kathy!
Love the mirror! As for the Bachelor, I hear he picks Catherine. I actually like them both but I really liked Desiree too. I still have to watch Monday night’s show, I missed it.
Wow that is beautiful. Thank you for sharing
I love all your turquoise! Can you tell me where it is from and what the name of it is?? I actually have 2 shutters with the top being wrought iron (kinda like this one of yours) and they are turquoise but I did not paint them. I want to paint a book shelf in the middle of them and need this color! Thanks. You do amazing work. I wish I live near you!
I wish I had an easy answer for you Karyn. I painted my living room aqua glow from Valspar and it came out way too bright for me so then I had to go over it with another aqua color. So it’s sort of a weird combo. One color would have been way too easy lol!
