I need your help!!!

Hi guys! I know you’re wondering why I am posting on a Saturday, but I need your help!

I bought this great old dresser (we found an old letter inside it from 1917 — how cool is that?), and I’m going to start on it later this week.  I love the old hardware and plan to salvage it as best I can, but here’s my dilemma:

Usually, I see a piece, and I immediately know what color I want to paint it. Not this time though.

Here’s what I was thinking, maybe a robin’s egg blue, possibly red (which is way outside my box), or maybe a violetish-blue I’ve been itching to use.

What do you think? Do you have any other suggestion? What would you do?

  1. I saw a great idea on another blog for a dresser very similar. She painted the dresser white, but I think the robins egg blue would look really pretty, and she refinished the drawers so the wood grain really showed. Actually, any of the colors you’re looking at would look great.

  2. I think it would look great in the robin’s egg blue or a antique white. I don’t think I could do the red but that is just me. Also a grey might be nice with white underneath showing thru here and there. I am sure it will be beautiful no matter what you do- xo Diana

  3. Is that Posh Red I see? That color is awesome. Check out Picked and Painted blog–she did a bunch of pieces in it. I just did a dresser in it and I love it. But you need to glaze it to tone it down.

Where does Posh Red come from…..I need a red just as bright as you have used…nothing with pink like I have picked up.

      Thanks,

  4. That dresser is gorgeous! I love all three colors, but I am drawn to that red because it would be bold and different. If you want it to sell quickly, the robin’s egg blue is the best bet. But oh how I would love to see it in the red or the violet! Can’t wait to see what you do!!!

  5. check out Malenka Originals racing stripe. Love it! I just ran across this today

  6. As soon as i saw this and before I read your color choices, I automatically thought of the light blue, robins egg is perfect, with maybe some white embellishments somewhere

  7. I see this as black or light cream with a faux granite top.

  8. Before I even read all of your post, I immediately thought a reddish toned down with a grey or black…hard to explain. That piece of furniture is beautiful! :-)

  9. One of my favorite combinations right now is gray with white accents. Or cream with black accents. Blue is always good too!

  10. I think a light color would look great. Mix some white with that Robin’s Egg and that’d be my first choice.

  11. I’m voting for the red. While robins egg blue is one of my favorite colors, there are many people using that color these days so I’d love to see something different.

Have fun. I know we all will when we see your beautiful result.

  12. You do such lovely work, and if anyone could make the red look perfect, it would be you! Go for red!

  13. I think the blue!

  14. I love anything red! I think it would look amazing red!

Whatever you decide I’ll be interested to see the finished product! I think the blue as well, but red is fun!

  16. violetish-blue or maybe a green? I am sure whatever you pick you will rock it out!

  17. i think if you used the light blue underneath maybe add a little grey to it then put the dark blue on top to show the light blue grey through would look good…it depends on where youre putting the piece unless youre gonna sell it…im more drawn to the greens and turqoise with a crazy under color.
